Kavita’s snake fixation

Recently a special guest slithered on to the sets of SAB TV’s F.I.R. Hissing his way through the cables and cameras was none other than Vijay Dinanath Chauhan! Now before you start thinking about the obvious reference to this name, let us get this straight! This one’s a seven feet rattle snake! Kavita Kaushik (Chandramukhi Chautala) was so excited, that she wanted to keep the rattle snake and named him Dinanath! While everyone on the sets started running helter-skelter, the actress held and played with it as if it was a lost little puppy. The snake reciprocated her attention by curling up on her arm all day long. Says Kavita, “It is always good to have such guests on the sets. It makes our shooting experiencs very interesting. I love snakes and this one was huge.” Why did she decide to name him that? Answers she, “He was ferocious, yet tall and sexy. The name suited him.” Watch Chandramukhi Chautala and Bajrang Pandey in FIR, Monday to Friday at 10.30 pm on SAB TV.

‘I will lose weight only if Yash Chopra asks me to’ ...says Ram Kapoor, who’s looking fatter than ever before in the promos of his upoming TV serial

Ram Kapoor will be seen in a TV serial soon with Sakshi Tanwar, the promos of which are already on. But Ram's clearly gained a lot of weight since he was seen last seen as the host of Rahul Ka Swayamvar.
He, apparently, was asked by the makers to host Ratan Ka Rishta too, but the actor couldn’t take it up because of a clash with his dates. “Unfortunately, I could not do that because of my prior commitments.
However, wait and watch – there may be a surprise element. I may just host a few episodes,” says the actor, who’s also got films in his kitty post-Udaan.
“There was a time when I tried really hard to get a break in films, but I had nothing in hand. Right now I have movies like Agent Vinod, Short Term Shaadi and Love You Mr. Kalakar. The muhurat of Mayee – a new film with singer Asha Bhonsle and Padmini Kohlapure has
also just got over," he says.
But, doesn’t he have any plans of losing weight? Because that may be a limiting factor to the kind of roles he is getting. Kapoor laughs out loudly before answering, “If a filmmaker like Yash Chopra asks me to shed my weight for a role in his film, I am definitely going to do that come what may. But not for anything less!”

How to clean White Sneakers

This may seem like cliched copy for an ad, but do you secretly want to buy white sneakers?
Let alone buy them, do you admire them in the store from a distance, afraid lest their white, uh…whiteness will get messy soon? I did too. But after reading of the various (there's more to life than soap and water) ways to clean the white shoes.
Hot Soapy Water and Toothbrush Sounds fun, doesn't it?
A simple rinse removes the simple stains - a bit of dirt, spilled food etc., i.e. the everyday spills. Use a toothbrush to scrub soap into the grime, and rinse off.
Liquid Dish Soap, Baking Soda and Water
Takes off grass stains from canvas shoes, but before you start, dust off any dry mud. Prepare a solution with 1/2 cup warm water, 1 tbsp clear ammonia and a dab of dish soap. Spread the baking soda in a paste over the grass stains. Using an old toothbrush, scrub at the grass stains. Rinse with water, and dry.
Baking Soda, White Vinegar
Or, use a classic lab experiment. Coat a paste of baking soda onto the grass-stained areas with an old toothbrush. Scrub off as much as possible with the paste. Now, pour a bit of distilled white vinegar onto the baking soda. The effervescence produced by the vinegar-baking soda reaction should take the stain off. To make a mix instead, use three parts white vinegar with one part baking soda. Now scrub the shoe.
Toothpaste
Use a non-gel based whitening toothpaste. It sounds funny, but this also involves a toothbrush. Dip the brush in warm water, and scrub the shoe. For stubborn stains, dot individual stains with toothpaste and clean.
Rubbing Alcohol
You might want to use rubber gloves. Remove the laces. Dab rubbing alcohol onto a rag, and scrub the sneakers. You can also use cotton balls.

Fashion Mistakes Not to Make While Wearing the Necktie

A necktie is described as "a long piece of cloth worn for decorative purposes around the neck or shoulders, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the throat" by Wikipedia.
For most of us, a necktie is much more than a simple piece of cloth around the neck. A good necktie spells class and has the ability to take the shirt-trouser attire to an altogether different level. However, there aren't many people who know the basic rules of wearing a tie. There are some common mistakes that men make while wearing a tie. Here is a list of the top fashion mistakes that men make while wearing a necktie and also, tips on how to avoid them.

Length of the Necktie

Some people often wear ties that are too short or too long ending up looking too frumpy and awkwardly dressed. It also portrays you as someone far from the style zone. As a basic rule, a necktie should end just where the belt lies. Anything above the tummy region or below the zip is a big no-no. The necktie division should be based on your height. For short men a 60:40 ratio would work well while, a 75:25 division would be proper for taller men.

Wearing a Necktie with Short-Sleeved Shirts

This one of the biggest blunders one can make with a necktie. A necktie is a formal accessory while short-sleeved shirt is a very casual attire. Teaming the two up is a bad idea as they both reflect opposite styles of dressing. Neckties look best when worn with a dress shirt and, obviously with suits.

Wearing Loud Neckties with Loud Shirts

We often come across people who wear neckties of a bright hue with an equally bright shirt or prints that negate each other. When wearing a bright shirt, tone it down with a neutral or light colored tie and vice versa. Make sure that the focus is only on one of them instead of screaming for negative attention by doing otherwise.

Knot of the Necktie

Wearing a necktie which is dimpled anywhere other than the centre never gives out a good impression. A well made four in-hand knot is good to go for an easy look while a a double windsor knot is a little more elaborate and, hence, worn for events with a formal touch.

Shirt Collar Smaller than Necktie

It is true that many people wear shirts whose collars are too narrow to hide the necktie border completely. Try not to end up in the same league as them and make sure your shirt collar is wide enough to hide the border of the necktie well.

Beachwear for Men

Whether you plan to go to a quiet beach in an undiscovered village, a party beach in Goa or even to the Maldives or to Thailand, you should make sure that you look good and have all the essentials while packing for your trip.

Beachwear needn’t be bum-wear
While you are basking in the sun, drinking a few beers with your honey by your side and waiting to dig into a platter of golden-friend prawns, your last thought is whether what you are wearing flatters your style or not. No one bothers overly about what they wear to the beach. After all, it’s a time to relax, forget your worries and enjoy life! But make sure that the essentials you carry make you look good and prepared for a gala time.

It’s always annoying to reach your vacation destination and discover that you’ve forgotten something or are carrying inappropriate clothing. We’re here to make your life easier with an easy checklist of essentials you should carry to the beach.

Slippers/ Sandals

Sandals are great for the beach. No one in their right mind would wear covered shoes to a beachside destination anyway! They are practical, slip on and off easily, and you can go crazy when buying your pair of flip-flops and try out funky colours and patterns. No one would blink an eyelid if you paired them with casual trousers for a beach party or to the club nearby.

Briefs
Decide on your swim wear depending on what activities you have planned for your time at the beach. Are you the kind that loves a fast game of beach volleyball? Then it’s best to stick to short swimming trunks that you can later dive into the water with. But if you prefer to lounge around the beach- eating and drinking and taking a few lazy walks, why not go for the very stylish 3/4th length surfing shorts? They’re funky and comfortable and perfect for a lazy day at the beach.

Swimming briefs or speedos (the brand swimming trunks have become synonymous with) are not the best or most comfortable swim wear. Not to mention the eyebrows they tend to raise. But if you prefer them to swimming trunks and you think you have the physique to carry them off, then nothing should stop you from wearing them.

Dress for the beach

Casual t-shirts and tank tops are great beach wear, but make sure the straps of your tank top are broad. Even if you have a toned body, it’s not a great idea to go for thin strapped tank tops because they make guys look ridiculous. Think Upen Patel and his tight thin- strapped tank tops and most women want to cringe! Also, try and match your swimwear and t-shirt or tank top colours.

Sun n Shades

If you don’t want the after- effects of your trip to the beach to be peeling skin, a burnt back and a head ache that refuses to go away, it’s always good to remember to carry some sun protection gear. A cap, or a bandana along with sunscreen will go a long way in making sure that your vacation has only good memories. If your sunscreen is a moisturiser with SPF, it’s even better because you will have no worries about your skin being protected against sunburn.

And don’t forget your sunglasses! Not only will they protect your eyes from the harsh glare of the sun reflecting off the water, but they’ll also make you look hip and trendy. Buy one that suits your face and that offers UV protection.

Spending so many hours in the sun can dehydrate you. So remember to keep drinking lots of non-alcoholic fluids too. Last but not the least, common sense should tell you that it’s a bad idea to carry anything valuable to the beach and leave it lying around. If you are carrying an ipod, attach it to your waist band and lock up any other valuable in your hotel safe.

That’s all it takes to have a fun-filled time at the beach. Be sure to enjoy the sun and surf and make memories last a lifetime!

Bollywood's Best On-Screen Couples

Bollywood has always been a magical journey for the actors as well as the lovers of cinema.
It is larger than life and often brings forth things that can never really be true. Beautiful love stories are glorified on the screens and people come to love them as they are portrayed. However, these love stories only remain limited to movies and that is where the magical journey ends. .

Raj Kapoor-Nargis

Despite being very much married, Raj Kapoor's fixation with Nargis was an affair that was hidden from no one in the industry. However, they were hugely a magical couple on screen which was perhaps because of the rumours doing the rounds. They were and will always be the golden couple of the Indian film industry.

Amitabh Bachchan-Rekha

Their love story was perhaps the most glorified amongst Bollywood fans. The mystery surrounding their so-called love triangle including Bachchan's wife Jaya could never be solved. However their pairing on screen was very successful and was an absolute delight to watch.

Dharmendra-Hema Malini

Now husband and wife were then one of the most successful on screen couples. The dashing Bollywood star was paired with the ultimate "Dreamgirl" and this created magic in films. This reel journey turned into real for them unlike the other on screen pairs.

Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia

Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia showed everyone what chemistry was when they came together in 'Bobby' for the first time. The film was a runaway hit and so was the couple. They came together a few more times and each time their pairing was loved by all.

Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol

Shah Rukh and Kajol's on screen success could never be replicated by couples of the modern generation. After the golden couples as mentioned above, only Shah Rukh and Kajol enjoyed that cult following amongst movie lovers. Even today, their pairing is greatly loved and always sought after by everyone.

Hottest Foreign Actresses in Bollywood

Time and again, foreign actresses come to India and receive overwhelming response from the industry as well as the public.
Nobody knows why females from other countries are so liked by the Indian public. Is it because of their exotic looks or are they really so talented? Irrespective of this debate, the fact that can't be denied is that, these ladies who come from foreign lands are extremely hot. The list showcases some of the hottest foreign actresses that are making their mark in Bollywood.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif was a British model before she 'boomed' her way into Bollywood. Today, she is almost vital to many filmmakers in the industry as she is one of the top actresses of Bollywood. With her chiselled features and barbie-doll looks, she reigns every man's heart in the country despite coming from a foreign land.

Giselli Monteiro

Saif Ali Khan's demure love interest in 'Love Aaj Kal' was a Punjabi lass as seen on the screens. She turned out to be a Brazilian model, completely opposite to the character she essayed in the movie. She will be seen next in SRK's home production 'Always Kabhi Kabhi'.

Jacqueline Fernandes

Miss Sri Lanka came to India and starred as Princess Jasmine in Sujoy Ghosh's Aladdin. Post another film opposite 'good friend' Riteish and an item number, Jacqueline is all set to sizzle in the sequel to 'Murder'.

Barbara Mori

Barbara Mori's Bollywood foray was probably more talked about in Bollywood than Kylie Minogue or Denise Richards. Reason being her sizzling on and off-screen chemistry with co-star Hrithik Roshan. Though, the film never got its due at the box-office, Barbara Mori established herself as the hottest Latin beauty in India.

Yana Gupta

The Czech beauty was a moderately successful model before the 'Babuji' number pushed her into the limelight. Her status as the hottest import to India was further enhanced when she showed her killer dance moves in 'Jhalak Dikhlaja'. Yana will be now seen in an item number in 'Chalo Dilli' which, we guarantee, is gonna be smoking hot.

Lisa Ray

The beautiful woman of Canadian descent was first majorly noticed in the video 'Afreen Afreen'. Post a few movies Lisa Ray became a very well known face in Bollywood. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma i.e. a cancer of the hwite blood cells in 2009 but emerged victorious in her battle against it. Lisa Ray has become an inspiration for many women not only in India but around the globe.

Bruna Abdullah

Bruna is a model of Brazilian and Arabian origin. An item number in the film 'Cash' brought her to our notice and a stint in 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'  made her familiar with the masses. However, it was her appearance in 'I Hate Love Stories' that really catapulted her to the top league of models.

Nargis Fakhri

She is the only one in the list who is creating waves in Bollywood without a single notable work. The constant media frenzy surrounding her is due to her upcoming release 'Rockstar' and her growing friendship with co-star Ranbir Kapoor. We only hope this exotic woman is here to stay.

Rosa Catalano

Rosa came to India following her lover Saif Ali Khan which is how her identity went for quite a while. Post her break-up with Saif, she worked towards establishing herself as a model in India. She appeared in various reality shows and a few item numbers.

Linda Arsenio

First noticed in 'Kabul Express', the Texas based actress drew attention for her amazing freshness and acting potential. She went on to play a supporting role in the film 'Aloo Chaat' alongside Aftab Shivdasani. Irrespective of whether she gets meaty roles in Bollywood or not, there is no denying the fact that she is definitely amongst the hottest foreigners in the industry.

Yoga for Premature Ejaculation and Erectile Dysfuntion Bookmark and Share

Problems related with sex are most often connected with the mind rather than the body. Stress, fatigue and lack of confidence result in diminished sexual prowess.
However, impotence, premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and the like are only temporary if you can identify and remove their cause.
Yoga, a well established system of treatment is known to be helpful in dealing with a variety of physical and psychological problems.
Premature ejaculation
If you are suffering from premature ejaculation, the first step for you would be to stop panicking. Chances are that the it is a symptom of stress and anxiety. Instill confidence in yourself and read on. Always remember:

It is under your control!

The body releases chemicals and hormones in a state of anxiety. When you perform sexual intercourse in this state, the hormones released in the blood play against you to return your body in a state of chemical equilibrium. The result - early ejaculation. You must master the techniques that allow you to control your anxiety.
Yoga masters stress the importance of prana or life energy. It is by controlling your breathing that you control the flow of energy inside your body. Mastering certain breathing exercises or pranayam will enable you to get rid of anxiety, control your bodily functions and inhibit the production of chemicals that affect your sexual stamina.
The other very effective technique in combating symptoms like premature ejaculation are yogic asanas. They increase blood circulation thereby decreasing tension in the body and improve sexual vigor.
Two have been mentioned below:

Sarvanga Asana or the shoulder stand

1.    Lie in a supine position with your palms on the floor close to the body and toes touching.
2.    Inhale and simultaneously lift both your legs without bending the knees.
3.    Now, putting pressure on both your palms, lift your body as much as possible. Try to keep it straight.
4.    Keep at it for a few seconds and then return to the original position by first bending your knees and then slowly lowering your body back to the floor.

The benefit of this posture is that it reverses the blood flow influencing its flow into the tissues, cells and organs.

Supine head knee posture

1.    Sit upright with your legs straight in front.
2.    Fold your right leg at the knee and place the heel firmly placed under left thigh.
3.    Take a deep breath and bend down over your left leg as you slowly exhale. Grab the toes with your fingers and bring your head as close to the knee as possible.
4.    Stay in the pose for a while and then restore your body back to the original position.
5.    Do not bend your knee at any time.
This pose is very effective in that it enhances the working of the reproductive organs.

Erectile dysfunction

This particular symptom of impotence can happen either gradually or suddenly. Like premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction is also largely caused due to psychological factors which can be controlled through yoga.
You can try Viagra anytime you want but if you want a holistic method of treatment that uplifts your mind, body and soul and enables you to attain your true potential, yoga is the best bet.

Khandasana

1.    Sit with your legs stretched out in the front. Now, bend the legs at the knees sideways and bring the heels close towards the perineum.
2.    Now, using your hands, place the soles of your feet against your navel. For the first few tries, your feet will inevitably slip. Don’t worry, just keep trying.
3.    Release your hands and keep the palms pressed against each other as shown in the picture.
4.    Your back should be erect the whole time. Continue with the pose for 30 seconds.
5.    Then slowly lower your legs back on the floor.

This exercise activates the muscles in the navel area and stimulates your sexual energy.
Remember, if you are doing these poses for the first time it is very likely that you won’t get them right or find them difficult. But never give up. With practice, comes precision. With precision, your goal.

Shilpa Shetty's Fitness Mantra - Yoga

When Richard Gere, fueled by the Endemol's British TV show Big Brother, started kissing Shipla Shetty on stage publicly
as if there was no tomorrow and  you sat motionless to gape at the spectacle hating Gere wholeheartedly, it was Shilpa's figure that stood out! A figure that is so perfect that she is usually the icon that the world knows Indian girls by.

The Girl with perfect 10 Figure

The Perfect 10 girl has what it takes simply by her diet and exercises.  Shilpha swears by yoga. She even teaches yoga, she is that kind of expert in it. She says that she was not serious about yoga when she started to practice it. Soon she realized, egged on by her yoga teacher, that yoga is something that touches the mind, body and soul. And, once you are hooked to it, it is for life. She ascertains that life changes for the better. When yoga comes into your life, it is a new way of life.
Yoga, the Primary exercise
She strictly adheres to her yoga routine. She is aware how yoga enhances concentration, how body maintains its flexibility and agility. With practice, the postures will improve and breathe control will be effortless.  She works out with the additional purpose of healing other than to strengthen the body. She know the value of music in unwinding. The relaxed atmosphere with apt music could give wonderfully effective results.

Her own Yoga DVD

She uses yoga to release stress and tension and to increase vitality. She knows how to maintain  a perfect blend of exercises and how to maintain the female figure that is accentuated by curves.

She has released a DVD, "Shilpha's Yoga" to be released in Europe. She makes the viewer privy to the knowledge about how she maintains her body lean and toned.

At 33, she may not be getting any younger, but to look at her and her skin glowing, you would not believe she is 33.

Shilpa is not a Health Freak

You would think that she must hardly be eating well and rich food should be out of bounds for her. No, she is not the one to push away a good meal. She does indulge herself now and then. It does not mean she stuffs herself with butter chicken and naan everyday. She eats well,  does her exercises and yoga until she is satisfied.
Shilpa's breakfast consists of organic food that is fresh from the garden or fresh fresh jucices.  Not for her the frozen foods unless she is famished.

She Knows her Limits

Surprisingly, she loves eating out and goes for Chinese and Japanese food. But careful that she is, she does not go beyond sashimi or seaweed salad. She might add black cod and some soup. Carbonated drinks are not for her. They actively wrinkle the skin and dehydrate.

Dating two Girls at the Same Time

It’s something that you have always wanted to do but just didn’t have big enough balls  for- dating two girls at the same time.
So here are the Xpert tips to dating two women at the same time and successfully pulling it off (and living to tell the tale)

Not taking calls

When you are out with one of your girl and the other calls you up, don’t make the mistake of not taking the call. Avoiding calls simply suggests that you are trying to hide something. Just talk normally making sure that your tone is neutral and keep the conversation short and tell her that you are busy and will call her back later. If you just have to dodge that call, just keep the phone on silent and when the incriminating call comes, just don’t pick up. Tell the woman calling that you didn't hear the phone (which is very true)

Taking both of them to the same place

If have the habit of taking the two women to the same spot, then you will surely make some of the other regulars jealous or resentful. If they start yapping then your cover will be blown for good. You need to be very discrete. So if you take your girls out on dates choose different spots for each of them.

Girls live or work in the same area

It’s a huge risk to date people who live or work in close proximity with each other. Avoid dating two different co-workers, classmates, or girls who live in the same neighbourhood simultaneously. Even if you don’t get caught by your other, a close friend or a fellow colleague may see the two of you in action. Remember, your cover can get blown when you least expect it so don't get arrogant about your routine. Always be careful of not leaving a trail behind. So be sure that there is absolutely no connection howsoever vague between the two girls.

Avoid yapping

Avoid having those intimate conversations with your flames and always carefully weigh your words before you utter them. Moreover, never ever make the mistake of  using the wrong name while addressing your girl. So be sure that it’s actually Rekha you are talking to, when you use that name. Remember loose lips sink ships, so keep yours all zipped up to avoid sailing into a storm.

Avoid lying

I agree, dating two women is living a lie (and an incredible one at that). But as long as you are truthful about everything else you won’t get caught in a difficult web of lies and end up shooting yourself in the wrong foot. So the less lies you tell, the less fibs you will have to keep track of, and the less likely you'll be caught.

Seeing both girls on the same day

This one is really important, so read carefully. Never ever see two women in one day. Women have a way of finding out deceits that happened not too long ago. Be it the slightest fragrance on you or an unrecognizable strand of hair on your shirt. However, if you aren’t left with a choice make sure you bathe and change your clothes before picking up your lady number 2.

Be safe

Having multiple partners is nothing less than playing with fire. Always keep a liberal stock of rubber with you and go for regular check-ups.
But in the end, you make your bed, you lie in it. The risk of it all is that you may lose that one great girl in the process, so make sure that the stakes aren't too high so that you have less to lose.

Using Facebook Photos to Meet Women

She could have spotted you on a a friend's Wall, or a friend list, or even a Page/Group. Yet, your Facebook picture is the first thing a girl sees about your profile - it's the reason she'll click on your profile.
Therefore, to be desirable on Facebook, you need to have an attractive Facebook picture
Using Your Facebook Album
You need to use your photos to look attractive - women usually gravitate to your photo album immediately after clicking on your profile.
Make it a point to get in touch with people you meet at events and have them tag you if any pictures were taken - especially if women are present in these photos.Even better - buy a good camera, or a good camera phone to carry around - even a trip to the mall becomes a photo-shoot.

Tagging your future girlfriend
A social occasion can introduce you to more people, all of which will usually Facebook. If you're tagged in an album, it's free publicity for you. More girls might want to check out your profile. Further, commenting on albums you're shared can serve as a prelim conversation with girls you find attractive (and vice versa)
Selecting Your Facebook Display Picture
If finding a girlfriend is an important aspect of your Facebook, use a picture that makes you look good. Not a random image of artwork, puppies, or emo posters. (And don't use Hrithik Roshan's picture!) Ask your friends, especially female friends about photos which they like by putting them on your Wall. Take your best picture and make it your Facebook profile picture.

Changing Your Facebook Display Picture

If you have an active social life, you'll have a ready stock of different photos for your Facebook Display pic. If you don't, well, keep the following kinds of photos in mind while changing your pictures.

Bollywood Stars Without Make-Up

Bollywood actresses are known for their beauty and style. They are glorified on screens as demi-goddesses who are blessed with ethereal beauty.
But its now time for some reality check as the actresses don't really look like the perfect dreamgirls once they are stripped off their make-up. Lets take a look at how different actresses look without their usual dose of make-up.

Sonam

Bollywood's number one fashionista isn't very attractive to look at once her make-up comes off. In this pic, Sonam far from the glam diva that she always is
 Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif doesn't look much different without make-up. She is one naturally blessed woman in terms of beauty and, hence, can easily survive without make-up. She looks beautiful in her most basic and natural avatar.

Rani Mukherjee
Yes! The person you see in the pic is indeed Rani Mukherjee. And, she sure does look horrendous without her make-up on. Our advise to her would be not to step out of the house without any make-up or she might end up losing the few films that she's got in hand.

 Deepika Padukone
Sans make-up, Deepika looks like any other face in the crowd. It is after a good dose of grooming that Deepika manages to look like the stunner that she always appears to be.

Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor also looks amazingly beautiful even without any trace of make-up. Guess its owing to her genes and a healthy lifestyle that always ensures that she looks radiant and glowing.

 Priyanka Chopra
The glamorous Piggy Chops looks like as bad without make-up as as she looks good with it. She seems like a totally different person from the gorgeous star that we all know

Kajol
Kajol has always shocked us with her sense of style in the past and she does the same by coming forth without proper grooming. No matter what the occasion is, there can be no excuse for turning up looking like this in public.

Rakhi Sawant
Not that we consider Rakhi a Bollywood star, but the difference in her look with and without make-up is so startling that we couldn't resist including her in the list. On the transformation in her appearance, we have only one thing to say: Miracles do happen!

Don’t slouch! Sit up straight!

Good posture is oft neglected.

You don’t need to go to a finishing school to know how important posture is. No one looks good slouching or hunching. Remember what your parents or teachers used to tell you when you were younger? Sit up, don’t slouch, hold your head high and walk. Don’t forget those early lessons so easily. An incorrect posture will give you plenty of grief in the long run if you don’t correct it right away.
A proper posture is necessary for proper distribution of body weight and to keep muscles and ligaments in an optimally relaxed state. “This minimises stress on these structures including joints while walking, sitting, running and sleeping. An incorrect posture can be corrected by following good posture habits both at home and in the office. More severe cases need to turn to physiotherapy to strengthen weak muscles and ligaments. A bad posture puts abnormal stress on the spine and joints leading to early degenerative changes like spondylosis, which are usually irreversible and progressive,” he says.
There is an increase in the number of backache, neck pain and other orthopedic cases related to bad posture. “A good posture leads to a better lifestyle with less pain in the long run. People need to pay more attention to the way they sit, stand, walk and sleep if they don’t want problems in the future,”

SLEEPING POSTURE
When one is sleeping, the spine and the limbs along with the head are supported by the mattress and the pillow. While turning if the mattress is too soft, extra effort is required and a soft mattress will make turning uncomfortable. Opt for a mattress that is firm. Your neck needs to be supported by a pillow, which supports
it properly. There are several varieties of pillows available in the market — choose one that suits you best. Some experts also recommend a pillow under your leg.

SITTING POSTURE
When you’re sitting, make sure that the height of the chair is adjusted in a way so that your foot is supported and knees are at a right angle. If the chair is too high, use a foot stool. The back rest should not only support your back, but also (if possible) your neck and head. Adjust your arm rests in a way so that your wrists and hands have adequate support and also stops you from hunching. When you drive, make sure the distance from the pedals is in comfortable reach of your legs.

STANDING POSTURE
When you’re standing, it is preferable to be upright, so that the curvatures of your spine are well distributed along the bones and ligaments of the spine, thereby decreasing the effort required to maintain an upright posture. If you wear high heels, it accentuates the curves of your spine making the posture more attractive but increases the pressure on your back and gives you backache over time.
While carrying heavy objects, make sure that you distribute it equally on both arms or shift the weight from one arm to the other.

SIMPLE GUIDELINES
If you spend a lot of time sitting at work, make sure you have a chair that keeps your spine aligned properly. The chair should be able to support your back and your spine’s natural curve. When you sit, your lap should be level so that it is perfectly perpendicular with your upper body.
Wear a posture brace under clothing. These are made of a thin but strong plastic material that will act as a reminder for people who tend to slump when sitting or standing for a while.
Avoid high heels. Do not wear leather boots or tight shoes for indoor work. Avoid heavy or tight belts as these tend to pull on your skeletal frame.
Check your mattress. Make sure that it is neither too hard nor too soft. Use an ergonomics pillow that keeps your head aligned with your body while you sleep.
Get a check-up from your doctor, including a full panel of blood tests that check calcium, vitamin D and estrogen levels. Check if you have osteoporosis in your family. If you do, speak to your doctor about early preventative measures you can take to avoid this condition more often seen in women.
CORRECTING BAD POSTURE
Ayurvedic says that whether we are standing, sitting or lying down gravity exerts a force on our joints, ligaments and muscles. “Good posture entails distributing the force of gravity through our body so no one structure is over-stressed. Bad posture can result from injuries, inactivity, lack of certain vitamins and minerals, hormone levels, bad sleeping habits, genetics and repetitive stress on areas in or leading to the back or congenital shaping of the spine. It can be corrected with a combination of diet and exercise. You need to be aware of your movements — the way you sit, stand and lie in bed. Using a back support cushion may help when you are sitting for long periods or while you are driving. Taking frequent breaks to move around and stretch may also help,” he says.
EXERCISES

Pilates improves mental and physical well-being, increases flexibility, endurance levels and strengthens muscles through controlled movements done as mat exercises or with equipment to tone and strengthen the body.
A person who practices yoga goes through a series of specific poses while controlling his or her breathing. There are several different positions that help improve posture.
Raise both arms straight up, alongside your ears. Bend your forearms toward shoulders to touch your shoulder blades. Repeat this 10 times with both arms.
Stand straight and raise both arms out to your sides at shoulder length. Hold till you slowly count till 10. Slowly lower arms to sides, counting ten as you lower. Gently raise arms back to shoulder height, counting to ten as you raise arms. Repeat this 10 times.
Stretching can greatly help you if you spend long hours behind a desk. Stretch your head in all four directions over your shoulders and gently massage your neck

EMRAAN-JACKIE SEX IT UP!

Ask Jacqueline Fernandez where her sex appeal lies and she promptly says, “It’s in my legs.” We agree. Especially after seeing this picture of her intimate scene with Emraan Hashmi from Murder 2. “It was a fun shoot. I think we did well. We have superb chemistry,” says Jackie (as she is fondly called). The steamy scene took a couple of hours to film, but she was completely at ease shooting it. “I’m very comfortable about my body. I was a pageant winner and then became an actress. In our profession, you cannot be shy to flaunt what you have and I have worked hard to maintain the body I have today. I play a pin-up girl and a seductress in the film and it required me to flaunt my body. I hope I have done well. I’m anxious and eager to hear the reactions,” says the actress, who has previously acted in Jaane Kahaan Se Aayi Hai and Aladin. During the making of Murder, Mallika Sherawat did not get along with her co-star Emraan despite having many sizzling kisses with him. Jackie, on the other hand, has no complaints. “Emraan was extremely co-operative and really helped me overcome the awkwardness. This is my first film that has such sexy and seductive scenes. I needed help to open up.” However, she goes coy when asked to rate her screen lover as a kisser... “I can tell you that he is very professional, but when you are shooting intimate scenes with people all around you, you are just concentrating to get the job done quickly rather than thinking how well one is kissing.”

IS CLEAR POLISH = TOP COAT?

We’ll dispel your myths if you are confusing the two for the same

You have applied a clear coat of nail polish before painting your nails in your favourite shade of acid green, end with another coat of clear polish and think you’re done with painting your nails? You are absolutely mistaken if you think so. There is a clear distinction between a base coat, top coat and clear nail polish. Read on to find out:

HOW’S IT DIFFERENT?

A base coat is a clear polish that is applied on nails before applying any varnish. It can contain proteins, vitamin E, calcium and other such ingredients to enhance the health of the nails. If you are the type who feels naked without coloured tips and always have nail polish on, base coats are doubly important for you as they prevent the nail bed from yellowing.
Clear nail polish is just like any other nail polish. It is as vulnerable to chipping and peeling as any common polish just that is is devoid of colour.
Top coat is applied after you are done with colouring your nails. It hardens as it dries which is why it protects nail colour from scratches, chipping and peeling. It also strengthens nails and keeps the polish looking shiny and glossy especially when you are applying dark colours like black which tend to chip easily and look very tacky.
WHY IT’S NECESSARY?
You must always apply a top coat if you paint your nails often. If you are one of those experimental types who's into nail art, applying a top coat is a must. Top coats help in enhancing the life of your polish or manicure by at least two weeks. You can reapply a top coat five or seven days after you have got your nails done. The colour will last longer. Follow the base coat, nail polish and top coat procedure for optimum nail health. When the nail colour is sandwiched between the protective layers of the base coat and top coat, you will have a long-lasting manicure. A lot of people skip some steps out of sheer laziness and compromise on the health of their nails

Applying for a PAN card : May We Help You?

Thinking of buying a car? Or taking a new phone connection? Making an investment? Well, there's one detail you need to quote for all, and that's your Permanent Account Number (PAN). Required for an ever-widening gamut of transactions, a PAN card is a must these days. If you have not got one yet, ignore those annoying messages and flyers touting PAN application services, and do it yourself. Here's how.

Forms and proofs

The entire process is simple enough. Download and print an application form, fill it up, gather the required documents, submit the lot and wait for the card to reach you. NSDL or UTI Investor Services offer PAN card application services through their network of PAN centres.

Application for a PAN should be made in Form 49A. Downloading this form can be done from the following websites:
Income Tax Department website:
http://law.incometaxindia.gov.in/DITTaxmann/IncomeTaxRules/pdf/Form49aE.PDF
UTI Investor Services website:
http://www.utiisl.co.in/form49a.htm
NSDL website: tin.nsdl.com

Print out the form. Take care to use the exact type of paper the Income Tax Department specifies - A4-size 70 gsm paper only - else your application may be rejected. The actual filling up of the form is not much of a hassle. There is a clear set of guidelines for form-filling, which can be accessed online at either of the following addresses:
https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/Instructions49A.html#instruct_form49A or
http://www.utiitsl.com/utitsl/site/instructions.jsp
If you are so inclined, you can fill in and submit the form online, through the websites of UTI Investor Services (http://www.utiisl.co.in/) or NSDL (https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html/). However, online applications only spare you the trouble of printing forms on precisely specified paper. You still have to print the acknowledgement received, sign and affix the photograph and collate and submit documents.

The one snag you may hit while filling in the form is the area code and assessing officer code. If you've taken the online route, then there is a search option for this. Else, it is always wise to put in those particular details after consulting with the PAN service centres at which you are submitting your form.As with most applications, you will need to provide a photograph and conclusive proof of your identity and address. Fret not, for the range of permissible documents is quite expansive, making it easier to put together your proofs.

For instance, identity can be proved by certificates ranging from your standard school leaving certificates and passport to a water bill, a depository account statement or even a credit card bill. Similarly, proof of address can be shown through telephone bills, bank account statements and so on.

In fact, a number of permissible documents double as proofs of identity and address such as your passport, ration card, voter's identity card or driver's license. The entire list of documents can be read at either of the following websites:
https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/Instructions49A.html#instruct_documents or
http://www.utiitsl.com/utitsl/site/instructions.jsp

Fees and submission

Once completed, all there is left to be done is the submission of the application. UTI Investor Service Centres or at NSDL's centres have been authorised by the Income Tax department to collect PAN application forms. To find out which centre is closest to you, go to either of the following sites:
For NSDL centres: http://www.tin-nsdl.com/TINFaciliCenter.asp
For UTI PAN centres: http://www.myutitsl.co.in//intra/web/search_psa.jsp

Of course, applying for a PAN is not free of cost. Regardless of the mode used, Rs 94 is the fee payable for resident Indians (Rs 744 for non-resident Indians), which can be paid through cheques, demand drafts, net banking or even credit cards.
