Takeda Pharma sues Dr Reddy's Lab

NEW DELHI: Japan's Takeda Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Tenjin Pharma Ltd have sued Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd for alleged infringement of their patent over uric acid controlling drug Uloric, according to filings in the Delaware district court of US. Takeda wants a stay on the Uloric generic produced by Dr Reddy's. Tenjin Pharma is the patent holder for Uloric, which it has licensed to Takeda for marketing in the US. Uloric, or generic febuxostat, in 40 mg and 80 mg strength, is prescribed for chronic management of hyperuricemia, or high uric acid levels, in patients with gout.
